Camera Operation - We found using the camera easy as it was my dad's camera and I had used it a bit in the past. By taking advantage of test shots and being able to alter the camera settings we were in reach of a successful film.
Composing Shots - To enable the audience to be able to see the characters in different perspectives, we used many different angles to show the different expressions of the actors. Yet again we found this task simplistic as we had developed our skills whilst working with the camera and were able to compose effective shots.
Recording or using sound effects, dialogue or music - In our film, Mon Nouveau Bestfriend, we didn't need to use sounds effects to create a platonic atmosphere. We did use a significant amount of dialogue to help the audience understand the storyline and the relationships between the three girls. Using dialogue was also an easy task as the camera picked up the dialogue very easily. Although we were unaware at the time that the camera also picked up the excessive amount of wind during the night scenes. We manage to subside the noise by our use of editing but we were unable to override it completely. We used music to enhance the atmosphere and keep the audience in anticipation. The songs we incorporated into the movie are :
-Smile - Avril Lavinge
-If you ever come back - The Script
-Best thing i never had - Beyonce
-Sleepwalker - Adam Lambert
All four of these songs help us to convey the message in each of our scenes. We didn't find it difficult to use music in our movie and found it easy to convert the files. First of all I used a music converter and saved it as a file on my computer. We furthermore imported it onto the movie programme we was using. We found this easy as we had prior experience from movies we had made in primary school.
Importing images and video files - We used quite a few images to show the relationships between the three girls and how the friendships have changed. We downloaded the photos from facebook onto our usb, then imported them to the movie maker. This wasn't difficult and it barley took any time to complete this task. Downloading the video files was straight forward as all we had to do was plug the camera into the computer and download them. Both importing the images and video files was very simple and we felt like we did well in completing this task.
Editing images for moving image production -
This part of the post production was the most time consuming but also our most effective. The editing phase took a lot of time, but the effort that was put into it created a great film. We used transitions to have a smooth run through from scene to scene.
-The keyhole - We chose to use this transition to show Rosie (the stalker) arriving home after her eventful evening when she overheard her ex best friend betraying her.
-The eyeball - Represents Rosie's eye , as she is stalking the two new friends from behind a bush. This is showing the audience Rosie's perspective of the situation as it is from her view.
-Zigzagged opening- We chose this to represent Rosie and Staceys' friendship parting. This use of editing shows how the protagonist, Rosie, is feeling in the current situation and how every second of the movie she is further and further away from where she used to be with Stacey. It is as if they are both being pulled in different directions.
We also used an editing programme to lighten the scenes that were filmed at night. Although the scenes are still quite dark, we were able to clearly see the significant impact it had on this part of the film.
These are only a few of the techniques we used throughout our film, but they are the most significant examples of editing that help enhance our storyline.
Editing sound for moving image production - We chose songs that we thought would create an atmosphere for our film and not draw away the impact we were trying to portray. The only time consuming part about this task was editing the songs to fit the images. We didn't want the song to interrupt the scene or overlap onto another shot. Therefore editing the song to the exact length and to have to right impact on each scene was difficult, but we managed and we personally think we did a very good job (:
